John Holten Andersen

John graduated as a civil engineer in 1979, and finished a PhD en applied physical chemistry in 1984. After some years in industry he joined the Minstry of Environment in 1987, was head of research departement at the National Environmental Research Institute from 1990 - 1998, and director at the Danish Nature Council from 1998- 2001, when it was closed by the newly elected government. Since 2002 John has held a position as associate professor at DTU, where he teach environmental management.

All along John has also been involved in the environmental movement - and in 2007 he was the co-founder of the danish de-growth network. John is furthermore heavily involved in the preparation of a Civil Society Climateforum during the COP15 meeting in December.

John is participating in the panel dialouge "Can we de-couple growth from energy consumption? Green growth or de-growth?" on the 12th of March.
